GAMING CONTROL BOARD REJECTS GETTYSBURG CASINO!

Thank you to everyone who wrote letters, signed petitions, and otherwise volunteered their time and talents to protect the family-friendly character of historic Gettysburg

The member groups of the Stop the Slots Coalition are very pleased with the Gaming Control Board’s decision not to license a casino within a mile of the Gettysburg Battlefield.

In recognizing the unique heritage of Gettysburg and its famous battlefield, the members of the Gaming Control Board have taken an important stand in favor of preserving Pennsylvania’s historic treasures. We commend them for their decision and fervently hope that other states and communities follow their example as they decide the fate of their own historic resources.

The Stop the Slots Coalition also wishes to thank the tireless volunteers of No Casino Gettysburg, who did a terrific job of mobilizing the local community, as well as the ten of thousands of Americans who wrote letters and signed petitions against the slots parlor. It was your activism that helped ultimately convince the Gaming Control Board that Gettysburg was no place for a casino.

The Stop the Slots Coalition looks forward to moving forward with our joint work of protecting and enhancing the Gettysburg Battlefield.
